Clarkson plays to her strengths on ‘Stronger’
Incurring a case of emotional whiplash is par for the course on a Kelly Clarkson album and is usually part of the fun. Clarkson’s fifth album, “Stronger,’’ out today, certainly fits the bill as Clarkson veers from throatily luxuriating in kicking to the curb a trifling partner who doesn’t measure up in one breath while employing an open wound wail in the next about romantic desolation and deep psychic scars. She’s got the pipes, passion, and pathos but not always the songs.
