In 1968, as John Lennon was embroiled in a divorce from his first wife, Cynthia Powell, another Beatle stepped up to comfort Lennon's son. Paul McCartney wrote "Hey Jude" for then-5-year-old Julian Lennon, who was taking the divorce hard, and sympathizes with his situation: "And any time you feel the pain, hey, Jude, refrain /
Don't carry the world upon your shoulders /
Well, don't you know that it's a fool who plays it cool / By making his world a little colder." Julian became a musician himself (and a ringer for his father), though his inspiration of "Hey Jude" may be his biggest musical contribution.
