"Missing You" about Marvin Gaye

  • Previous
While Diana Ross provided the pipes to "Missing You," a song written and released shortly after Marvin Gaye was shot and killed by his father in 1984, the song was actually written and produced by Lionel Richie. The song was written around the refrain, "I'm missing you / Tell me why the road turns." But Ross put some soul into the tune, belting out, "But now you've gone away, boy / I feel so broken hearted / I knew the day we started / That we were meant to be / If only you'd let me!"
