The Boston Music Awards pays tributes to bands and musicians who find their roots in our fair city.

These are the competitors for this year's Best Album on an Independent Label of the Year Award: Aberdeen City's "The Freezing Atlantic," Frank Smith's "Red on White," Reverend Glasseye's "Our Lady of the Broken Spine," State Radio's "Up Against the Crown," Waltham's self-titled album, Mr. Lif's "Mo'mega," and Apollo Sunshine's self-titled album.
