The Smiths, Heaven Knows Im Miserable Now 12 single (1984) The band was known for using 1960s screen idols to grace the sleeves of its albums and singles. But in a particularly inspired bit of cover casting, the band chose a pitch-perfect snap of Viv Nicholson, a working class Brit who became infamous in 1961 after winning a significant amount of money (by 1960s standards), and then experiencing a string of bad luck. In the end, she was left penniless. The cover shows Nicholson outside her childhood home shortly after the death of her husband.
