One of the key players in the great folk revival of the 1950s and '60s and the longest-running folk music venue in the country, Passim in Harvard Square turns 50 this year. It has changed hands three times and names four times: Club 47, Passims, Club Passim, and now, officially -- as befits a coffeehouse-cum-cultural institution -- the Passim Center.
This 1959 poster advertises Club Mount Auburn 47, one of the early names for the original club at 47 Mount Auburn St.
