Piano Sonatas Op. 101 and 106 (Beethoven), Mitsuko Uchida, piano; Philips. Pianist Paul Lewis is winning well-deserved accolades for his Beethoven sonatas, but don't overlook this disc, which boasts a magnificent account of the monumental "Hammerklavier" Sonata and is a worthy successor to Uchida's recording of late sonatas from last year.
