Breaking news update: Police arrest two individuals for arson
A blaze broke out in West Bridgewater at around 9:30 last night on South Main St., in a commercial building that was under construction. Police have arrested two individuals, a man and a woman, and have charged them with setting fire to a building.
Boston Globe deputy city editor Mike Bello stopped in to update listeners on the situation, and that clip can be heard below.
Bello said that according to investigators, the individuals are only being charged in connection to last night's West Bridgewater fire, although they are under investigation for a spate of arson attacks over the past three months, including one that was set at the Raynham dog track in December.
Police note that the suspects allegedly follow a pattern that includes setting fires at night in abandoned or under-construction buildings.
The couple was arraigned in Brockton District Court this morning, and are believed to be from Middleborough. No one has been injured in the fires.
