It's an annual tradition that, according to Tom Brokaw, has been "ruined" by the likes of Lindsay Lohan. But the band plays on at the so-nicknamed "Nerd Prom" down in Washington, each year getting more outrageous as the President gets less funny and Hollywood types take over our nation's capitol.

This year, the guests were all a-Twitter at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, and there were some surprising (read: silly and mean) tweets from your favorite sideline characters.

Sarah Palin, the country's favorite do-nothing big-mouth, criticized everyone for wasting time on honoring the fourth estate, while "real" Americans are working.

The most heartbreaking example of the worst part of the correspondents dinner is this tweet from Christiane. Even the most seasoned war journalists lose their heads around the glitzy celebs.

But apparently not all journalists are so easily swayed. Professional explainer Ben White was clearly unhappy about the media's blatant hob-nobbing with the stars.

In which members of Congress are so dumb, a Sports Illustrated model tricks them.

But the best BEST tweets were all the ones calling out the Boston Globe for excellent coverage of the bombings. (Aw, shucks...)
