New York Times, Rolling Stone ask: Is Jake Bugg the new Bob Dylan?

Being tagged the "New Dylan" has been a rite of passage for folk singers since . . . oh, about 1965. The artists who've been honored with it -- from Donovan and Springsteen to Ryan Adams and Conor Oberst -- will tell you it's both a blessing and a curse. But all told, being mentioned in the same breath with Robert Zimmerman is a good omen.

The latest to be annointed? Our good buddy, 19-year-old phenom JAKE BUGG, who's been in heavy rotation on RadioBDC and stopped by to play a few songs for us at Coachella.

"If you like Bob Dylan, Try Jake Bugg," proclaims the New York Times today.

And that echoes a four-star lead review in Rolling Stone that not only illustrated Bugg in Dylan's iconic motorcycle jacket pose but went on to describe Bugg's debut as a collection of "songs that seem steeped in The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, The "Chirping" Crickets and A Date With the Everly Brothers.

In case you need more convincing, check out this video of Bugg performing his left-of-the-dial hit "Lightning Bolt" at Radio BDC's Coachella House last month:

GO: Jake Bugg plays the Paradise Rock Club in Boston on September 18.
