The following dispatch is from PRIEST, who is running the show shirtlessly at the RadioBDC House just outside lovely Indio, California.

Morning found us in a not so refreshed manner due to the fact that a few of us plowed through the door at 3 o’clock in the morning after getting on our Coachella, at what is undoubtedly one of the world’s greatest music festivals. What a night! After a few days in the desert it was time to get some early morning laundry done…well, at least that was the plan until we realized we couldn’t open the laundry room door. Turns out there was a body in there. One of our own (not to be named) decided the room was far better suited as a bedroom and had completely setup shop in there. Oh well, too busy for laundry anyway. Breakfast was skipped by all in anticipation of a very busy day ahead.

Party prep, equipment checks, and a “One, two, three, go BDC” put the dial into the red zone. First to kick it off was the band Stars, who tore through a superb, short set that left the crowd most pleased and salivating for more. As the cars piled up in front of the adjacent properties up and down the street, Yeasayer was kind enough to grace us with their presence for a most humorous interview, followed by photos, autographs, and oh yes, some drone piloting. In fact, the rock star drone wars got off to a most precarious, near disastrous start as a few high-impact crashes darn near spelled the end for the little wondrous contraption.

The scene at the house, Palma Violets, Yeasayer

As the sun climbed higher into the desert sky and the temperature hit 94 degrees, we propped open the gates a bit wider to welcome the many stars of Coachella 2013 into our oasis. Japandroids, Palma Violets, JEFF The Brotherhood, all dropped in to tell us all about life on tour and what it really takes to make a solid album in the twenty-first century. Then in through the sliders, past the party people, walked Jake Bugg, guitar in hand! Yes! All were in the presence of greatness as he tore through a blistering version of "Lightning Bolt." The stunned crowd looked on as he then gave off a smile and started into Seen It All. What a treat! We couldn’t stop watching the replay, so we left it on repeat for two hours. Thanks again Jake!

Next up, Coachella headliners, Phoenix came in for a most jovial interview. They hung out and paid mind to all the appreciative superfans here at the Sapporo House. Our transportation coordinators then unlatched the pool gate and escorted Romy from the xx into our headquarters for an interview. She was a bit shy, but was very sweet and endearing overall. At this point it was early in the evening and the production crew knew they had their work cut out for them with all the editing and mixing to get all this exclusive footage out to the masses; there was no end to this work day. Alas the remaining beggars and hangers-on at our party scurried off after the clean-up (us) threw a few filthy looks their way to get the hint. Beat it, party’s over for now.

Phoenix, Romy XX, JEFF the Brotherhood:

Eventually nightfall made its creep and many of us ventured off to night-two of Coachella. Those that remained at the headquarters began concocting strange beverages as if they were mad chemists. Most of the blended drinks ended up on the floor instead of in thirsty bellies. Attempt number two was far more successful and since this is a PG travel diary, we must end it here, for the R-rated version simply cannot be shared as we are all working professionals…and stuff like that just doesn’t happen. Sunday is coming, along with many more bands, stay tuned.
