Doughboy Donuts & Deli
Within walking distance of Broadway Station but also featuring a drive-through, this half-deli, half-bakery is a commuters dream. While it has space for the coffee crowd, most patrons are in and out. And although Doughboy sells more than 30 flavors of coffee, the doughnuts adhere to convention: on this day, we try maple with chocolate jimmies, a sugar-raised, and a light and airy lemon-filled. They are perfect to pair with coffee on a commute, though not worth taking a trip. 220 Dorchester Ave., South Boston, 617-269-7560 ($1.00 each; $9/dozen)
