Shia LaBeouf: 'Transformers 2' stunk
Actor Shia LaBeouf is finally admitting what we all already knew: The last "Transformers" movie stunk.
Interviewed at the Cannes Film Festival, where he's promoting his new film, "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps," LaBeouf told the Associated Press that "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" lacked heart -- and he promised that the third installment will be much better.
"When I saw the second movie, I wasn't impressed with what we did," LaBeouf told the AP today. "There were some really wild stunts in it, but the heart was gone."
"We got lost," he went on. "We tried to get bigger. It's what happens to sequels. It's like, how do you top the first one? You've got to go bigger. ... You lost a bit of the relationships. Unless you have those relationships, then the movie doesn't matter. Then it's just a bunch of robots fighting each other."
Work on the third "Transformers" movie will start next week, but it's difficult to believe it won't be the same sort of big, noisy mess that the second one was. Why? Michael Bay is returning as director.
