Could this be the year for Donna Summer or the J. Geils Band? The disco singer from Dorchester and the Boston-bred band fronted by Peter Wolf are up again for induction in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The hall released its 2011 list this morning, and the nominees are: Alice Cooper, the Beastie Boys, Bon Jovi, Chic, Neil Diamond, Donovan, Dr. John, the J. Geils Band, LL Cool J, Darlene Love, Laura Nyro, Donna Summer, Joe Tex, Tom Waits, and Chuck Willis. In order to be eligible, an artist must have released a single or album at least 25 years ago. Ballots will be sent to 500 voters, who will decide which artists get in. Inductees will be announced in December; the induction ceremony is scheduled for March 14.
