The art of the YouTube video
Are YouTube videos art? The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum thinks they might be. A team from the museum has selected 125 YouTube videos to appear in an exhibit called "YouTube Play: A Biennial of Creative Video." Starting today, the videos will be shown at kiosks in Guggenheim museums in New York, Berlin, Bilbao, and Venice, according to the Associated Press. The Guggenheim received more than 23,000 submissions worldwide for consideration. A jury that includes filmmaker Darren Aronofsky ("The Wrestler," "Black Swan") will cull the candidates down to 20 videos, which will be screened in New York on Oct. 21.
