New Rep artistic director Kate Warner resigns
Kate Warner has resigned as artistic director of the New Repertory Theatre in Watertown, it was announced today.
Warner had only been in the post for two years. In a statement, she said she is "sad to move on, but this is a good transition and a great time for New Rep."

Theatre Board Initiates Transition Plans and Search
WATERTOWN
, Mass., May 25, 2011 – The Board of Directors of New Repertory Theatre announced today that Artistic Director Kate Warner has resigned from the company. The Board has put into place a transition plan for a smooth start of the 28th season that begins in the fall.Harriet Sheets, who has been long-time Managing Director of New Rep, will oversee the transition.
"We appreciate the incredible contributions that Kate has made to New Rep, including preparation for performances in the coming year," said Dan Newton, Chairman of the New Repertory Theatre Board. "We wish her well in her next steps."
"It has been an honor and a privilege for me to work with this company and in the Boston theatre community", said Warner. "I'm extremely proud of the work we did together over these two seasons. I’m sad to move on, but this is a good transition and a great time for New Rep."
Warner joined New Repertory Theatre in spring 2009.
