A best-musical win by "The Book of Mormon" was so expected that presenter Chris Rock couldn't help pointing out the obvious before he announced the inevitable.

"This is such a waste of time," he said. "It's like taking a hooker to dinner."

"Book of Mormon" co-creator and co-director Trey Parker thanked Joseph Smith, the 19th-century founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, whom he called his co-writer.

"He couldn't be here tonight, but you did it, Joseph," Parker said, raising a fist to the heavens. "You got the Tony!"
