Larry Kramer's "The Normal Heart" has won the Tony for best revival of a play.

"To gay people everywhere whom I love so, 'The Normal Heart' is our history," the playwright said, accepting the award.

At the podium, producer Daryl Roth called Kramer's drama "the ultimate love story."

The 1985 play competed in the revival category, but the current production is its first on Broadway.
