Theater: ‘Wicked’ in Boston
The Stephen Schwartz masterpiece “Wicked” returns to Boston Aug. 7 for a five-week run, closing Sept. 15 at the Boston Opera House. The production has won three Tony awards and a Grammy, among other accolades, and holds the record for highest gross for a week of performances in Broadway history. The production took in $2,228,235 for the week ending Jan. 2, 2011.
The musical is scripted as a prequel to the L. Frank Baum classic, “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.”
