Museum exhibitions: Bruce Davidson, Michelangelo at the MFA
The Museum of Fine Arts will host exhibitions that could be stellar this year.
The first will be photographer Bruce Davidson’s “East 100th Street” collection, which will run from Jan. 19 to Sept. 8. The exhibition will include 43 of Davidson’s prints, exemplifying the harsh neighborhood between First and Second Avenues in New York during the 1950s. The prints were first showcased under the same name at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1970.
Second, the MFA will showcase 26 works by Italian master Michelangelo, including many of his drawings. These works, according to the MFA, “illustrate how he alternated between interpretations of the divine and the worldly, or profane, throughout his career.” The Michelangelo exhibit will premiere April 21 and close June 30.
