Three to remember

Looking back on her 50 years in film, what roles stand out for actress Shirley Jones?

1. ''Silent Night, Lonely Night" (made for TV, 1969). ''It was a dark story about infidelity," filmed in Amherst, Jones says. ''I starred with Lloyd Bridges, and that was a lovely film. It was based on a Maxwell Anderson play."

2. ''Cheyenne Social Club" (1970). ''This was with Jimmy Stewart and Henry Fonda. I played a madam in that. It was great fun. Working with the two of them was just like an acting lesson."

3. ''There Were Times, Dear" (made for TV, 1987). ''I played the wife of a man who has Alzheimer's, and it was a very moving, well-written story. I was nominated for an Emmy, and the film was nominated as well."
