Narrator speaks out

Email|Print| Text size +
January 22, 2008

Although he's noted for his "suburban" subject matter; the work of painter Eric Fischl is anything but the pedestrian, slice-of-life study that word may imply. On the contrary, works like "Bad Boy" and "Sleepwalker," two prominent examples of the narrative Fischl manages to weave into his oil compositions, are indicative of his penchant for the voyeuristic and the slightly darker side of human sexuality and behavior. Fischl takes part in the Shapiro Celebrity Lecture Series tonight in a program titled "My Art Then and Now: Is It Still a Narrative When the Body Leaves?" 6:30 p.m. $35, $28 students and seniors. Remis Auditorium, Museum of Fine Arts, 465 Huntington Ave., Boston. 617-267-9300. mfa.org
