Despite the fact that Altcom sounds like a sci-fi convention where people might show up dressed like characters from "Battlestar Galactica," it's actually short for Alternative Comedy Fest, and the event, which is tonight and tomorrow night at the Somerville Theatre, is Galactica-free (as far as we know). Tonight, you can see Emo Phillips, Todd Barry, doktor cocacolamcdonald, and the always dry and ridiculous Eugene Mirman. Tomorrow, the lineup features Patton Oswalt, Morgan Murphy, Jim Jeffries, and our hometown boys, the Walsh Brothers. 8 p.m. both nights. $32. Somerville Theatre, 55 Davis Square, Somerville. 617-625-4088. altcomfestival.com
