Children in the residential and day facilities at the Home for Little Wanderers were asked to re-create their favorite animals for this year's "Voices & Visions Creative Writing and Art Exhibition." The kids, ages 5-13, took the theme and ran with it, writing poetry and stories and creating papier-maché sculptures of a 5-foot squirrel, a 7-foot alligator, and an 8-foot barracuda, not to mention penguins, a manatee, and a porcupine. You can check out the menagerie today in Jamaica Plain.9 a.m.-3 p.m. Free. Knight Children's Center, 161 S. Huntington Ave., Jamaica Plain. 617-264-5349. thehome.org
