Do you believe in magic?

There's nothing ordinary about the Boston Opera Collaborative. This troupe made up of emerging professionals, most of whom have completed their master's degree work at Boston-area conservatories, has set Mozart's classic "The Magic Flute" in a Victorian mental asylum - a far cry from its original setting in ancient Egypt. Our favorite tidbit about this fully staged production: The cast sings in English. Hurray! The story about two lovers who must survive magical ordeals opens tonight. 7:30 p.m. (through July 27). $25, $15 students and seniors. Boston Latin School Auditorium, 78 Avenue Louis Pasteur. 617-517-5883. bostonoperacollaborative.org
