If your kids get bitten by the acting bug at today's Children's Theatre Festival, they can learn a bit about the craft at workshops between the five 45-minute performances by local children's theaters. Workshops include Riverside Theatre Works' "Open Scenes Improv" (11 a.m. for ages 5 and older) and "Improvisation" by the Un-Common Theatre Company, above (2:30 p.m. for ages 11 and older). Performances feature "Once Upon a Mattress" by the Performing Arts Center of MetroWest (10 a.m.), "Romeo and Juliet" by Arlington Children's Theater (1:30), and the Improv Soup Troupe from the Un-Common Theatre Company (4:30). 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. $20 (all shows and workshops), $5 per show (includes workshops). Arsenal Center for the Arts, 321 Arsenal St., Watertown. 800-838-3006. brownpapertickets.com [June Wulff]
