How do you get an art gallery named after you? Well, you can be a world-famous photographer. Today is opening day for the Museum of Fine Arts' Herb Ritts Gallery, the first exhibition space permanently dedicated to photography. The first exhibit in the new space is "Photographic Figures," a collection of more than 75 close-ups, nudes, and figural groups primarily from the 20th century (through May 10). More than 65 artists are represented including Barbara Morgan (below her photo, Valerie Bettis, "The Desperate Heart") and the gallery's namesake. Today 10 a.m.-9:45 p.m. $17, $15 students 18 and older and seniors, free under 18 during non-school hours and for all on Wednesday after 4 . Museum of Fine Arts, 465 Huntington Ave., Boston. 617-267-9300. www.mfa.org
