Four shows, two venues, and lots of photographers to check out at the Griffin Museum of Photography. In "State School," John Wesley Mannion explores the psychological effects of space in abandoned rooms of the Pennhurst State School and Hospital. International photographers offer their points of view about our global civilization in "Humankind." Photographic lithographs in "codedknits" by Jan Cadman Powell highlight the geometric, emblematic, abstract, and decorative aspects of knitting. Nadine Boughton is drawn to the post-war period through the early '60s in "The Pleasures of Modern Living." Today noon-4 p.m. (Through Jan. 11; Boughton exhibit Nov. 26-Jan. 24 at Atelier Gallery at Stoneham Theatre. Free). $5, $2 seniors, free Thursday. Griffin Museum of Photography, 67 Shore Road, Winchester. 781-729-1158. www.griffinmuseum.org JUNE WULFF
