We would sell our soul to live in Tuscany, but since there aren't any takers, the next best thing is a new exhibit at the Chase Gallery by Boston artist George Gabin. The former professor and chair of painting at Montserrat College of Art evokes the rolling hills and vineyards of Tuscany mostly from memory and imagination. Approximately 20 oils on linen (detail of "Two Gardens," above) will demonstrate how the artist layers thin paint to create an intimate interaction between light and shadow, evoking a peaceful and dreamlike quality. Mon-Sat 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. (Through Dec. 27). Free. Chase Gallery, 129 Newbury St., Boston. 617-859-7222. www.chasegallery.com
