When we're upset, we yell and eat, different from Gillian Frazier, who uses art to express her emotions. In "Reflections: A retrospective exhibit of work by Gillian Frazier," charcoal and oil figurative pieces ("The Happy Family," below) reveal personal events over the past 15 years. The artist explores themes of intimacy and grieving, and pieces include self portraits reflecting on her personal growth. You can learn more at a reception on Jan. 9 (6-9 p.m. with an artist talk at 8 p.m.). Gallery hours are Mon-Fri 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (Through Jan. 29). Free. Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis, 1581 Beacon St., Brookline. 617-277-3915. www.gillianfrazier.com
