If the spirit moves you
"Stand back, we are not responsible for its behavior. It might knock your camera down." This sounds like a warning to the paparazzi, but it came from villagers concerned for the safety of Dr. Monni Adams. The anthropologist, art historian, and author traveled to western Africa to understand the behaviors, costumes, and meanings of the masked spirits, the subject of "Masked Festivals of Canton Bo, Southwest Ivory Coast." The exhibit features drawings, photographs, and masks from Harvard's Peabody Museum. Today from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (through March 31, 2010). $9, $7 students and seniors, $6 ages 3-18, free for Massachusetts residents 3-5 p.m. on Wednesday and 9 a.m.-noon on Sunday.
