Brush with family drama

When Mickey McMahon returns home to visit his elderly parents and announce his engagement, the news is trumped by a dark family secret that surfaces. “The Banshee of Crokey Hill’’ by Tommy Marren is a dramatic comedy set in 1970s rural Ireland that explores a difficult relationship between father and son. There’s added drama when the local gossip arrives to tell a dark story about the family’s house being under a spell. On the lighter side, you’ll see brush dancing, an old Irish dance done with a broom. Tonight at 8 p.m. (through June 28). $30, $25 students and seniors. Regent Theatre, 7 Medford St., Arlington. 781-646-4849. www.regenttheatre.com
