A merry, if irreverent, Christmas
Spirited troupe’s ‘(abridged)’ show lampoons holiday
“What’s funny about Christmas is, people dread it,’’ says Austin Tichenor of the Reduced Shakespeare Company. Dread makes good comedy material. So do sacred cows. In previous shows, the Reduced Shakespeare Company has reduced and abridged the complete works of the Bard as well as the Bible, American history, Western civilization, and Hollywood, among other topics. Tonight through Dec. 18, they’ll work their sardonic magic in “The Ultimate Christmas Show (abridged)’’ at Merrimack Repertory Theatre.
