"We're not the most normal bunch of people," Megan Schnaid, an NYU museum studies grad. student, told the Exhibitionist last night in the main ballroom at the Hynes.

Could have fooled us... The party, called "A Toast and A Twirl," drew about 1,000 of the 7,000 museum types attending the American Association of Museums conference. There was a generic, r & b cover band, people who actually used the term "progressive education" during small talk, and name tags aplenty... in other words, a standard convention snap-shot. Where was the best party? If it could be found, a techie from California told me, it would be thrown by "the shippers." The shippers? That's right. The folks who transport art apparently also know how to throw a good bash. And if these shippers do throw a party, expect to see lots of museum registrars and librarians getting sloshed. Really? "Librarians are heavy drinkers," an attendee from Indiana said.
