There was an agreement made yesterday between the Museum of Fine Arts officials and Italian authorities who have accused the museum of having looted antiquities in its collection. The deal, though, involved merely controlling the flow of information. The two sides issued a joint statement.

Meanwhile, next week another case involving the MFA moves forward. Is Judge Wapner in the house? Because this litigation - involving Americans injured in a terrorist bombing, and their claims against art museums - is confusing. A hearing in the case, which also includes the Harvard University Art Museums, will be held May 24.

Harvard said it couldn't comment on pending litigation. The MFA sent a short statement, which read in part: "Although sympathetic to the plaintiffs, the Museum is firmly of conviction that these objects are the property of the Museum, not Iran, and are therefore not subject to the claim asserted by the plaintiffs."
