Tonight, at 6:30 p.m., head over to the Berwick Research Institute to hear JPís John Ewing. Since we had no idea what the Berwick meant by calling him a "public art incubator artist," we went directly to the source. Ewing, in an e-mail, explained basically that he uses technology to mess with our minds. In 2001, his "Symphony of a City" called for eight different Bostonians to wear tiny ďheadcamsĒ for an entire day to document everything they saw. [Thatís Boston City Councilor Chuck Turner, with headcam, pictured below.]

For his new project, Ewing is going to rebuild, at least virtually, a street corner in Dudley Square in Coolidge Corner, and vice versa. "Both Dudley Sq. and Coolidge Corner are vibrant neighborhoods, just 2.7 miles apart and connected by the 66 bus route, yet there doesn't appear to be much interaction or travel between the two locations," Ewing said in an e-mail. "This project will allow people to "chat" with each other while waiting for the bus or shopping, hopefully leading to meaningful dialogue about issues important to each place."
