Middle East Benefit Concert Announced

Posted by Geoff Edgers July 28, 2006 01:29 PM

A group of Boston artists - including members of the American Repertory Theatre, Boston Camerata and Emmanuel Music - will be holding a free concert on Monday, August 7 to raise money for victims in Israel and Lebanon the latest Middle East conflict.

"This event will be non-sectarian, non-partisan and non-political," Boston Camerata director Joel Cohen (below), one of the event’s organizers, said in a press release. "But it is clear that all of the participants, like so many of us in the public at large, are horrified by this recent violence. We want to do something to help those who suffer from it."

The concert, at Emmanuel Church, takes place at 8 p.m. And though it's free, the benefit organizers are taking donations, with proceeds going to the International Red Cross. (Other charities will also be present in the church foyer.)
