The Boston Symphony Orchestra is cutting prices on some Tanglewood tickets at the Serge Koussevitzky Music Shed between Sunday, July 30 and Thursday, August 10. Tickets usually $72 and $83 will cost $50, tickets priced at $48 and $59 will cost $40, and tickets going for $27 and $39 will cost $20. A couple notes: No discount ticket for the August 21 James Taylor show since it's sold out. And only lawn tickets are available on August 5 and 12.

The BSO has offered Shed discounts in the past, but not for as many concerts. Kim Noltemy, the BSO's head of marketing, said she's modeling this promotion off similar ones done in New York and San Francisco. As for now, sales inside the Shed are down one percent this summer - "which is marginal," she writes - and lawn sales are up 600 tickets over this date last year.
