BSO Contract, Fun Facts
Here are a few notes that didn't end up in our story about the new Boston Symphony Orchestra contract. We also tried to get an exclusive photo of the signing, but failed. Instead, we present (below) a photo of a contract being signed. We're not sure who those folks are, or what they're signing. But we're glad they reached an agreement.
The fun facts:
- On tour, players get $18 for breakfast, $27 for lunch, $46 for dinner. That $91 total rises to $101 for trips to New York City.
- The day after a Carnegie Hall Concert needs to be work free.
- Players on the Audition Committee get paid $45 an hour. And the Committee needs to include a tuba player for specific vacancies.
- Pensions rise from $65,000 to $70,000, and $72,500 and $75,000 the following years.
