Gardner Podcasts - Listen Up
The Gardner on Boing Boing? It's true. With today's podcast launch, the tapestry room took a major step forward into the time period known as "now." The Gardner isn't the first museum to do podcasts. It also isn't the first to present classical podcasts. But the recordings here are notable for their quality, and for the museum's approach. There are five concerts posted right now, and additional gigs will be available twice a month.
Each "concert" is culled from the archives. (Every Gardner performance is recorded.) The podcast opens with a hello from Music Director Scott Nickrenz and a short, informative introduction to the music from Podcaster Charlotte Landrum. Then the goods. We had trouble downloading four of the five concerts posted, which the Gardner blamed on excessive traffic created through the Boing Boing mention. The show we did listen to - Cecile Licad performing 12 of Chopin's etudes - was impressive. Our one gripe: Tell us when this music was performed. We like dates.
