New BSO Trustees, Overseers

Posted by Geoff Edgers September 14, 2006 06:52 AM

As of September, the Boston Symphony Orchestra has three new trustees and 18 new overseers. The new trustees, who will serve five years, are: Alan Bressler (pictured below with his wife, Lorraine), Stephen Kay, Carol Reich, and Wilmer Thomas.

The BSO press release introduces Bressler as chairman of Agar Supply Company, "a family business that has become the region's largest independent food service distributor with $440 million in annual sales." Kay is a senior partner at Goldman, Sachs & Co. Reich is a child developmental psychologist. Thomas is a financial entrepreneur and private investor and a managing director of the Metropolitan Opera.

The overseers, elected to three-year terms, are: Linda J.L. Becker, Anne Brooke, Ronald G. Casty, Ronald M. Druker, Alan J. Dworsky, Joseph F. Fallon, Thomas E. Faust, Jr., Michael Gordon, Brent Henry, Susan Hockfield, Osbert M. Hood, Darlene Jordan, Farla Krentzman, Evelyn Nef, Susan W. Paine, Claire Pryor, John C. Smith, and Albert Togut.

Some of these names, you might notice, are familiar. Farla Krentzman's late husband, Chet, was a major contributor over the years. Anne Brooke's husband, Peter, remains a big supporter at Symphony Hall. Druker and Fallon are major developers. And Susan Hockfield, M.I.T.'s president, has been fascinated by music director James Levine's leadership style.
