ICA Opening Date, Moving Target

Posted by Geoff Edgers October 4, 2006 05:52 AM

Our latest scientific calculation pushes the Institute of Contemporary Art's opening into at least mid-November, and that still sounds pretty unlikely.

Walking through the building Tuesday, we did come across Tony Oursler, who was hanging his giant spheres up for the ICA's "Super Vision" exhibition.

He didn't seem at all concerned about the delayed opening, just glad to be part of the first show at the new building. Oursler, of course, spent a good chunk of time in Boston in the '80s and '90s, teaching at the Mass College of Art. He was also featured in the ICA's 1988 show, "The BiNational: American Art of the Late 80s, German Art of the Late 80s."

"To me, this is how I always imagined Boston should be," Oursler said, standing inside one of the ICA's new galleries.
