Spelling Bee, Adult Version

Posted by Geoff Edgers November 17, 2006 07:57 AM

Stay home kids. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is going blue. As has become a tradition in other cities, the cast will put on a performance Dec. 1 at the Wilbur that's for "mature audiences only."

I don't want to spoil the show, but did wonder how exactly the script turned. By my rough analysis, I'd say this is more Don Rickles than Dice Clay.

An innocent sample:
MY FRIEND THE DICTIONARY (from the song)
* "Cause my mother’s in an ashram in India" changes to "Cause my mother’s in a Scientology retreat in Hollywood"
* "as daily she cleanses herself in the Ganges" changes to "as daily she cleanses her soul for the aliens"
A little racier:
CAPYBARA
* (Sentence) "Hearing of the immense size of the Capybara, Richard Gere said sign me up."
