Pollocks Or Not Pollocks, The Plot Thickens

So if you're catching up... Here's what happened this week with the Alex Matter pictures heading to the McMullen Museum of Art.

1. Pollock-Krasner Foundation, trying to put pressure on Matter, feeds New York Times story about New York dealer Ronald Feldman - who is storing Matter's pictures - pushing for authentication. Foundation's hope is that the story will lead to the release of James Martin's study of Matter's paintings.

2. Reporter Randy Kennedy does mention the Martin issue, but his story highlights another tip given by the foundation: That Matter has sold some of his works to Feldman. Tuesday's New York Times runs story with headline: "Provenance Still Unclear, Possible Pollocks Have Been Sold."

3. Matter, who couldn't be reached for the Times story, tells me that he hasn't sold the pictures. Here's that story.

4. Feldman and Martin do not speak.
