Sheryl Flatow, Another PR Exit
So Sheryl Flatow finished up her job as director of public relations at Boston Ballet yesterday. She told me she wants to do more writing. (Flatow has written program notes for ballets, columns for Playbill, and also contributed to a long list of publications, including Dance Magazine, The New York Times, and Parade.)
For those keeping score, that means there are a slew of PR/marketing jobs open at local arts institutions: The ICA, Gardner, Higgins Armory Museum, Emerson Umbrella, Powers Music School, Merrimack Repertory Theatre, The Hanover Theatre, and From The Top. (There are more, but I'm not a job listings service, so you'll have to find those on your own.)
My favorite job opportunity? Tailor at Plimouth Plantation. Among other things, you're expected to be able to manufacture (using home & industrial style sewing machine, serger, and by hand), alter, and maintain historically accurate reproduction 17th century garments and to solve "clothing problems for CID (role-playing) staff."
