Nico To BSO: Improve The Website
Not yet 30, composer Nico Muhly has scored commissions from American Ballet Theatre, worked with Björk and Lou Reed, and, on Saturday, will have the Boston Pops premiere his piece, “Wish You Were Here.” That’s exciting. But Muhly’s not so thrilled with the way the Pops has noted his work on-line.
On his own website, Muhly writes, in part, “for those of you looking to get information on the Pops/BSO website, GOOD LUCK, their ass might have Jimmy [Levine] and a lot of money but their website leaves a lot, as you will see, to be desired. I included the link to the Metropolitan Opera’s site because that is an example of a performing arts organization who has really figured out its web presence as well as the way that presence can inform its print design.”
Did Muhly worry that his comments would somehow annoy the organization that’s performing his work? No, he said when reached by phone Tuesday. “It’s critical of their website. I’m just really into stuff being clear online and some organization.”
