The Halbreich Watch
So it was a short break for Kathy Halbreich. The longtime Walker Art Center boss - and former curator at the Museum of Fine Arts and director of the List Center - will be associate director of the Museum of Modern Art. That set off speculation about what the appointment really means.
Is she moving into position to take over MoMA? How about the Met?
Best line about the hiring comes from CultureGrrl:
Has MoMA put out a press release? Of course not. Its official spokesperson is Carol Vogel, whose piece for tomorrow's paper is already up tonight on the NY Times' website.
For those keeping score, Tyler sorta broke this, though we have to give Linda Yablonsky credit for what can best be described, in professional terms, as "a good guess."

BS on the hat-tip to FabYab. Journalism is not about guessing. Last I checked, Bloomberg is a respected journalism outfit. How publishing a rumor that has bounced around the art world for six weeks is creditable is beyond me. Would Bloomberg print a random, unsourced 'guess' like that about who the next Fed chairman was going to be? Or the next CEO of GM? No. Reporting is about nailing things down and publishing what you know. It is not about guessing in print.
