Today's Worst PR Pitch: Varicose Veins

After the Tim Page debacle, I've heard some folks ask why the Washington Post's critic received an e-blast from Marion Barry. Perhaps today's worst PR pitch of the day can explain just how indiscriminate publicity folks have become in the electronic age.

"Few Studies Compare Various Methods of Varicose Vein Removal"

Yes, I received this release, promising that "Professor Kevin Burnand, Head of the Surgery and Anesthesia Department, Professor of Vascular Surgery, Academic Department of Surgery, St. Thomas Hospital, London, discussed the development various treatments over the years and debunked several myths about varicose veins and their treatment."

Whoopie!
