Gardner Museum, $2,500-A-Plate Gala

On Friday, December 14 the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is hosting a black-tie gala featuring a performance by mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade.

Want to go? Tickets are $2,500 per person.

Here's the run down.

6:30 PM

Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres around the courtyard garden, accompanied by a Flute Choir.

7:15 PM                      

A trumpet will call guests to the Tapestry Room, where they will be greeted with a classical guitarist and welcomed by museum director Anne Hawley prior to the performance.

7:50-8:30 PM               

Frederica von Stade performs a collection of: beloved classical art songs by composers Franz Schubert, Richard Strauss, and Gabriel Faure; songs from the operatic repertoire including Mozart’s “Voi Che Sapete” from The Marriage of Figaro; and two songs from musicals, A Little Night Music and Oscar Hammerstein’s “I Can’t Say No” from Oklahoma!  

8:30-10:30 PM             

Dinner in the Tapestry Room featuring vanilla scented kabocha squash bisque, poached native lobster and winter vegetable timbale, followed by a wild mushroom stuffed loin of veal, crisp potato and artichoke croquette, lemon roasted asparagus and Madeira-thyme jus, with a holiday dessert assiette.

10:30 PM                     

The evening will conclude following farewell remarks by President of the Board of Trustees Barbara Hostetter with cordials and truffles in the cloisters and a reprisal of the flute choir in the cloisters.
