Boston Foundation, More Money
Here's more fuel for those critical of the Boston Foundation.
The organization announced today that it got more than $155 million in new gifts in 2007, more than double the previous year. The Foundation’s assets rose to $964 million, up from $830 million. During 2007, more than $92 million in grants were were made to nonprofits.
“The Boston Foundation is becoming the kind of philanthropic engine we hoped it could be,” said Paul S. Grogan, President and CEO of the organization, in a statement. “This level of support has allowed us to boost annual grantmaking from $33.2 million to just under $93 million in the past five years.”
